Hulu Plus launches for Android, six smartphones supported

On January 7 we told you that Hulu Plus was coming to Android smartphones, well now we can confirm that the video streaming service and app has launched for this platform, however only a handful of devices are supported.

The apps officially description tells us that Hulu Plus for Android currently supports the HTC Inspire 4G, Motorola Atrix, Motorola Droid II, Motorola Droid X, Nexus One and Nexus S, as you can see there is not a lot of love for HTCs long-list of offerings just yet, also there are no Sony Ericsson models supported yet either.

Verizon Prepares to Kill Unlimited Data Plans

Unlimited smartphone data plans are going the way of the dodo bird.

Verizon Wireless confirmed on Monday it would soon be changing its wireless data pricing plans in July, ending its longstanding unlimited data plan option for smartphone users, priced at a very affordable $30 monthly.

Mobile security software market to surge as 96% of mobile devices left vulnerable

Security software sales will surge over the next five years as businesses seek to increase protection against security attacks and data loss on mobile devices, according to an analyst.

The Juniper Research report, Mobile Security Opportunities, shows only 4% of smartphones and tablets currently have installed third-party security software to protect against malware and viruses, device theft and data loss.

As a result, the analyst firm predicts the mobile security software market will increase from over $630m (£388m) in 2011 to $3.6bn (£2.2bn) in 2016, covering 227 million devices, as the need to protect personal and corporate data on mobile phones increases. <
