Massive earthworks needed to prepare the ground for a new nuclear power station at Hinkley in Somerset have been delayed, dealing a further blow to the government’s energy plans.

Half of the big six energy firms have already abandoned their nuclear plans as too costly, but Hinkley is backed by the most pro-nuclear of them, EDF, which is 83 per cent owned by the French state.

Replacing the UK’s ageing nuclear plants is central to coalition plans to cut greenhouse gas emissions while keeping the lights on.

The ‘Apache Killer’ tool is now out in the wild enabling attackers to consume all of the memory on a Web server creating a DoS condition. Apache has issued multiple security advisories on the issue and are planning on releasing a patch this weekend.

“A denial of service vulnerability has been found in the way the multiple overlapping ranges are handled by the Apache HTTPD server,” Apache warned in its latest advisory.

In 2006 Dr Simon Colton, a researcher in computational creativity at Imperial College, London, started to explore whether a computer program with the capacity to create art could be taken as seriously as a human artist.

Where did the idea for the program you call the Painting Fool come from?

As a hobby I wrote software that would turn a photograph into a more artistic piece, but six years ago I brought it into my field of research.

However, if you go visit the Nokia USA store website you will find that it is now CLOSED. After the crazy Nokia N8 experiences I had, I have to say good riddance. You were much better off finding phones at Amazon, Newegg, Dell, and through other online retailers anyway.

This is what is posted on the Nokia USA site:

The Nokia US Online Store has been closed from June 30, 2011.

According to reports, Orange Uganda and Warid Telecom are also outsourcing assets and asset management to the UK in a bid to improve efficiency and operating costs in light of dropping prices in the country.

Recently, Orange signed a 15-year partnership agreement with Eaton, which the company said would “exploit the high quality coverage provided by the company’s tower portfolio.”

The deal also includes outsourcing of the maintenance and operation of sites and construction of build-to-suit new sites to cut capital expenditure and costs.

Warid also inked a deal with Eaton to give over management and sell as many as 394 towers in the country, but the deal has yet to be finalized, although company officials said it would happen “in the first part of 2012.”

“This is an important strategic transaction for Warid Telecom Uganda which has undergone significant transformation over the past few years,” said Sriram Yarlagadda, CEO Warid Uganda and Director, Telecom Business Africa, in a statement on March 19.

“It will allow us to realize the value embedded in our passive infrastructure without impacting the quality of service we provide our customers. This transactio

ESNC will welcome registration and submission of business ideas and apps from April 1 until June 30.

The Korean company invested an undisclosed amount in the £4.5bn Don Valley Power Project, marking Samsung’s second major investment in the UK green economy this year following a £100m wind turbine plant in Fife.

2Co says the project will capture 90 per cent of emissions from a 650MW coal-fired power plant before piping the CO2 out to the North Sea to recover about 150 million barrels of hard to reach oil.

Adding oil recovery significantly lowers the cost of CCS and means more revenues for the Treasury. Al

Photoshop CS6 is ready to download. This is a free public beta version of new and highly anticipated Photoshop, the star of the Adobe family.

This new version includes a 62% of more features than Photoshop CS5 edition, most of them inspired by comments and user reviews in Facebook, Twitter, the website of Photoshop CS6, and other anonymous comments.

In my opinion, the ultimate feature of PS CS6 is the possibility of video editing in Photoshop and Adobe new graphics engine, Mercury, which will allow users to perform image edition much more quickly and easily.

Main features of Photoshop CS6 Beta:

- Greater control over images with the new family member PhotoShop Patch.

When Larry Page accepted the resignation of senior VP of product Jonathan Rosenberg on Monday, that was just the beginning of a shakeup in the top ranks of Google (GOOG). Page is ending his first week back as CEO by naming the senior team who each will run a different part of Google and report directly to him.

If you want to know what Page’s priorities will be for Google, just look at this team and the products they run: search, ads, YouTube, mobile, Chrome and social. Team Larry consists of six key people at Google: Andy Rubin (Senior Vice President of Mobile), Salar Kamangar (Senior Vice President of YouTube and Video), Vic Gundotra (Senior Vice President of Social), Sundar Pichai (Senior Vice President of Chrome) Alan Eustace (Senior Vice President of Search), and Susan Wojcicki (Senior Vice President of Ads).
In the modern world of information security, there is a need for enterprises to rapidly identify and analyze new forms of malware.

Security vendor Norman is now advancing its malware analysis technology with Norman Malware Analyzer G2 platform. The system is for enterprises and governments that have a need to do their own security analysis as the threats of targeted, advanced persistent threats (APT) continue to grow.

The Malware Analyzer platform uses two different types of vitualization technologies in an effort to identify and test malware to find out what it might do in a real world environment.
