Possible iPhone 5 release date delay due to processor problems
We have some important rumors to share with you now, and its a rumor which may upset you, as were hearing whispers that Apples elusive iPhone 5 smartphone has been delayed, due to a hardware problem involving its included processor.
We advise you to take the following information with a pinch of salt, but if one source is claiming that a processor fault is to blame for the iPhone 5 release delay, then most of you will probably want to hear about it than not. The information has surfaced from Chinese website Sohu, and has been translated by 9to5Mac.
According to the source, the iPhone 5 release may now be pushed into sometime in 2012, due to a problem involving the A5 processor, the same chip featured on the iPad 2 which Apple are apparently having problems with fitting it inside the new model. This problem is related to overheating, as we are hearing that Apple are supposedly having problems keeping the chip cool inside the new fifth generation models and this is the main reason why Apple didnt announce the device at WWDC 2011, as the company usually use their annual event to introduce a new iPhone to the world.
However, all is not lost. The same Chinese source mentions that Apple still has plans to release their iPhone 4S to the public this September, in accordance with previous speculation stating that a new iPhone model would be coming. This model wont be the real iPhone 5 if you like though, instead it will be the modified version of the iPhone 4, with Apple adding a dual-core processor, an 8 megapixel camera, an improved display screen possibly made of Gorilla Glass and perhaps the most important for consumers 4G network support for the main carriers in the US. Obviously theres no news on whether the modified iPhone 4S will be coming to all four main carriers in the US, but Verizon and ATT are good bets to start with.
These details appear to be a bit sketchy though in our opinion, as if this iPhone 5 wasnt delayed, would that mean it would still be coming in September? According to them though, consumers will still get a new iPhone this September by way of the iPhone 4S, somewhat contradicting their argument that the true iPhone 5 has been delayed due to a faulty processor.
Its interesting nevertheless though, as it does make you wonder why Apple didnt introduce a new iPhone at WWDC again was a processor problem actually to blame then? Let us know your thoughts on this, with regards to the iPhone 5 possibly now releasing in 2012 instead of 2011.
